We only passed two barges, had interesting homes to look at, and listened to the Bills-Patriots Game on Sirius Radio. At 1:30 we passed downtown Nashville.
Some sides of the river are high...and some sides were quite low.
The "batman" building dominates the skyline...
It used to be the Bell South Building, but it's now AT&T.
Waterfront...downtown Nashville
The Tennessee Titans played away this week.
There were many switch-backs after Nashville. In one area we traveled 11 river miles, but only three miles "as the crow flies". The current against us was much stronger in the last 20 miles before Old Hickory Lock and Dam, with a 60 ft. lift. That was our second and last lock for the day. We had to wait almost an hour...but right on the other side was Anchor High Marina where we would get diesel, tie up for the night, and meet Jim and Olivia, owners of Persistence, a 39 Mainship, whom we had met in Oswego, NY. On Monday, we would go the last 24 miles to Jim's Cherokee Yacht Club, probably in the rain!!!
Dear Bernie,
ReplyDeleteI just got my mail and the birthday card you sent me was there. Where you ever got a card that is so perfect of out friendship, I'll never know. But you made me cry. I am so grateful for my move to West Junior many years. I think of all of the things we have been through together and even though there are miles between us, I know you are always there for me and hope you know I am here for you. I always look forward to our visits and even though they are short, we somehow manage to say a lot and do a lot. Take care and safe journey. love, Joan
Hi Joan,
ReplyDeleteYou said it so well...sorry you cried...we WILL always be there for each other. Remember, "call me any time, day or night, no questions asked"????? We went to a Super 60's musical show last week....the first song was Age of Aquarius...and you know what came to mind, West Jr. and our variety shows!!!! Thanks for the memories....
Love you lots,
Bernie
