We are Don and Bernie Burton from Tobermory, Ontario, aboard our PDQ 34 Powercat, Snow Cat. This blog is a photo-journal of our trip around the Great Loop. Back in Sept. 2010 we started from Tellico Marina on the Little Tennesee River in Maryville, TN, and worked our way south to Sarasota, Florida, where we left our boat for the winter. In April 2012 we have resumed our journey north. Kate, our 13 yr. old border collie, is our boat dog!

Low Tide
We were the only boat in the anchorage. At night there were whitecaps on the waves...because of the 15-22 knots of wind. At low tide a sandbar appeared so we dinghied the dogs to it for some off-leash exercise. Kate found a hole with water and tiny fish in it! So much for the exercise....she just stood there staring and finally pawed at the water which then turned so murky she couldn't see the fish any more.
That reminds me of something that happened when we first got on board the boat. Don cleaned the air-conditioning strainer since algae often grows in the water. Well, we had a clean strainer for the first time! A tiny baby fish must have gotten in...and he was a good 2 inches when we came and set him free! At least he was well-fed in his cramped quarters.
