We are Don and Bernie Burton from Tobermory, Ontario, aboard our PDQ 34 Powercat, Snow Cat. This blog is a photo-journal of our trip around the Great Loop. Back in Sept. 2010 we started from Tellico Marina on the Little Tennesee River in Maryville, TN, and worked our way south to Sarasota, Florida, where we left our boat for the winter. In April 2012 we have resumed our journey north. Kate, our 13 yr. old border collie, is our boat dog!

Generator repaired!
Don found the impeller totally shredded and cleaned out all the tubes to remove any tiny pieces he could find. But that didn't solve the problem....water was not getting in, which caused it to overheat and ruin the impeller. So we called a mobile marine group and had some professional help. The thru-hull fitting was loose allowing air to be pumped in rather than water. That was fixed today...with the temperature around 42 degrees, and much lower considering the wind! Here is a picture of the good and the bad!

Glad to hear you have things fixed. When you get a chance, email me your itinerary. I never know where you guys are. I do remember you will leave for Hawaii at the beginning of Feb. Love, Joan
