Last night we went to a KGB concert in town that was lots of fun.
But our stay here is mostly about the people....we have met so many great people since we started cruising the Loop last April, and many of them gathered here at Joe Wheeler. And now it's time to say good-bye. Perhaps we will see them down the waterway in Florida. But regardless, our memories are good ones that we will always cherish.

Fun cruisers....
Our Nashville friends, Jim and Olivia, with Blueberry and Raspberry, came by car for a few days and brought us Kate's ashes.
Hank and Ceci were our "boat buddies" when we first crossed to the Bahamas in 2007.
One area of the marina. Snow Cat's royal blue bimini is way to the left. We are one of the smallest boats here.
Something that I forgot to mention was the bass fishing tournament in Florence where we stayed last week. On Friday morning by 6:45 am, 142 bass boats, that were launched in the dark, were milling around in the water off our boat, waiting for their fishing tournament to begin. At 6:50 they played the National Anthem, and then started calling the boats, one at a time, by their number, and they zoomed out onto the river, heading to their favorite fishing hole! That's 142 numbers, called individually, over a loud speaker. The poor folks that had the last number! Not a good time to be a hungry bass in the Tennessee River!
You must be a little sad that your trip around the "loop" is over. I know that you have LOTS of wonderful memories and lots of pictures but it still must be a LITTLE sad. Hope you good weather continues and Hurricane "Sandy" does not stir up the waters you are traveling on! Love, Noreen
ReplyDeleteLove hearing about all the great new friends you guys have made. I think that is one of the things we like about the river boat trips. Boats are small and things are casual and its easy to get to know people. Hope your journey continues to be filled with safe adventures. Love, Joan
