Parry Sound...and on to Tobermory!!!

After listening to the weather forecast, we decided to stay another day in Parry Sound.

We saw lots of seaplanes tethered at island cottages...and landing next to us in Parry Sound.

Don, Kate, and I took a long hike to the Fire Tower next to the Parry Sound Museum, which was very interesting and arrived back at the boat right before the downpour started!

Later in the evening, Al, Julie, Don, and I decided that we had enough of the intense piloting involved in dodging rocks and shoals....that we just wanted to relax at anchor. Killbear Provincial Park was the perfect place! We walked the sandy beach, went exploring by dinghy...in other words, chilled out!

Kate enjoyed chilling out as much as we did!!!

We spent the evening at anchor, waking at 5:30 on Sat. morning to head into Georgian Bay. Al and Julie were going northwest to Killarney, and we were heading due west to Cabot Head and the top of the Bruce Peninsula!!! We were going HOME!

The Shipping Channel was very well marked...and we picked the perfect day to cross Georgian Bay! It took us an hour to reach the end of the channel....weaving through shoals, rocks, and some more of the 30,000 Islands! A few days ago we passed a lovely island named Bernadette Island...and a pile of rocks called Donald Rocks that the navigator eagerly pointed out to the Captain!

We were surprised that we could see the rocky cliffs at Cabot Head 25 nautical miles off shore!
Then there were so many familiar sites....

Indian Head Cove and the Grotto

Jane and John Greenhouse waved and took pictures as we passed their house!
 Big Tub Lighthouse
We were on a collision course with the Chi-Cheemaun until we sped up!
 Snow Cat at our dock!!!
We were only home an hour when I spotted a large animal swimming across the harbour...after yelling for Don to come see, he/she turned around and went back to the other side!
This black bear looked quite brown!
We are so glad to be home!!! We will enjoy our summer and continue our Loop in mid-August, when we head to the North Channel, Lake Michigan, Chicago, the river systems to Mobile, AL, the Gulf of Mexico, and then Sarasota, FL! We hope you join us on our journey. Until then, safe travels!
