Yesterday, Wednesday, we left the dock and headed down the St. John's River...and discovered we had engine vibration and we couldn't go very fast! So we returned...and today had the boat hauled. In 6 weeks our props became home to hundreds of barnacles!!! They were power-washed off and we took Snow Cat for a test run. We were back to normal....and reached 3600 rpm and 22mph! Hopefully we will leave tomorrow after changing the engine oil.
We would like to anchor in Fort George River, up the Intracoastal, just north of the St. John's River. There is a problem with shoaling, but after checking the tides, it should be doable. There is a plantation house to tour...part of the Park system. The next day we will go to Cumberland Island National Park, again anchoring. We have been there before and it is a very special place with feral horses. I'll take lots of photos, but probably won't have internet until we reach Jekyll Island on Sunday or Monday.
